When do volunteer opportunities take place?
Many different times! The majority of our volunteer shifts tend to take place during weekday, daytime hours as we are reaching kids while they’re in school, adults while they’re at work, or at-risk individuals while they are receiving services. However, we do have occasional evening or weekend opportunities as well — especially during the summer months through community festivals and events.
Is there a minimum age to volunteer?
Most of our opportunities are geared toward volunteers who are at least 16 years old. We do have some opportunities for younger volunteers, but note that all volunteers under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Do I need to commit to volunteering a certain number of hours?
Not at all! We welcome all volunteer contributions — whether you have a couple of hours once every few months, or want to volunteer several times a week. Some of our volunteer roles require committing to a certain number of weeks or shifts, but you’ll always know that before signing up. And, we have plenty of one-time opportunities!
Where would I be volunteering?
Our volunteer opportunities take place all over Columbus. Each role specifies the location and address, so you know where you’ll be going before you sign up.
Do you offer group volunteer opportunities?
Based on the nature of our programs, it can be challenging for us to engage groups in projects that are essential to our work and meaningful for each volunteer. However, we’re always willing to explore the possibility. If you are part of a group that would like to volunteer with us, please contact our Volunteer Manager directly.
Did you know…
Many companies provide time during the work day to allow for employees to volunteer their time with non-profit organizations, and at times, provide matching financial contributions. Check with your employer on their volunteering and matching policies…and come out and volunteer with us.
